don't worry babe, you're safe here💖

wtf is mello?
oh it’s only an online wellness safe haven set to cure the fears and insecurities that BIG WELLNESS* creates to make money, by showing an attainable version of wellness and sharing real life ways to take care of yourself that are (dare we say) actually possible.
**BIG WELLNESS:** A silly little goofy pet name I have for the capitalist beast that feeds off the insecurities it creates, while simultaneously shaming its followers into sticking to a rigorous and expensive list of demands — all in an effort to be "well."
mello is for everyone and anyone who...
has felt personalized victimized by the wellness world
maybe doesn't fit the rich, thin, white, blonde, cis gender wellness blueprint
has only seen their body represented in a "before" picture
has been shamed into spending money to "fix" something naturally occuring on bodies
wants to take care of themselves but isn't sure where to start and doesn't want to subscribe to any toxic wellness b.s.
think of mello as a virtual slumber party - a place where you can get cozy with your closest besties and yap about everything and anything. nothing is off limits -- it's a judgement free zone where your babes keep it real with you, hype you up at all times, and are just be there for you.
so get your jammies on, here's a cozy blanket, and let me braid your hair while I remind you of your worth.
raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by BIG WELLNESS...

BIG WELLNESS* is giving toxic ex-energy...
gas-lighting you into thinking they care
searching for ways to make you feel bad about yourself
starting a fight with you at every meal
and my personal favorite - hitting full send with the drama
we have all seen the content...
"putting lemon in your water will change your life"
"cure every illness you have with this one trick"
"this one ingredient in every food ever created is KILLING YOUUUU"
ahh!! like chill PLEASE.
and just like your bestie told you about your last situationship, you deserve better.
point blank, taking care of yourself shouldn't make you feel like sh*t.
and it's shouldn't be some wild, ground breaking concept that the focus of self care should be around life quality and feeling good (or as best as you can).
but the corporate wellness world doesn't make money that way. multi-million dollar marketing departments are working overtime pumping out so much toxic garbage on the daily. not a PTO days in sight. the goal? to shame people into living up to an unattainable blueprint of "health" it fictionalized in order to brainwash them into buying things to "fix" an imaginary "problem" it created.
according to BIG WELLNESS* you aren't healthy unless you...
wake up at 5AM
take a handful of supplements that all cost $50 a bottle
meditate for 30 minutes
journal for 30 minutes
workout for 1 hour
eat only organic, perservative free foods you make from scratch
shower and complete your 15 step skincare routine
don't forget all your normal adult responsabilities
get your 10,000 steps in per day
use your red light mask while you read selfhelp books
have a full social life and romantic relationship you romanticize daily
complete your night time 15 step skin care routine
get a full 8 hours of sleep
i am probably forgetting a few things
oh yea, and if you don't do this or miss a single day you are a lazy failure who just doesn't "want it" enough.
and these other wellness spaces aren't just cringey af,
they are outright harmful.
i think it's pretty safe to say, at a minimum we've all felt the impact in one way or another of toxic diet culture. and if for some reason you forgot, just go back and watch re-runs of America's Next Top Model from the 2000s and the icky feeling you get will serve as a reminder of even just the small amount of steps we've taken forward from that.
and here we are, minding our own business trying to enjoy our time on this silly floating rock -- and everywhere we turn is some corporation pushing unhealthy dieting information, dangerous excercise practices, untested supplements, and outright lieing to us about the so called "benefits" they peddle - all for that cash babyyyyy.
but don't worry we have your back against these bullies...

in a world where toxic positivity and impossible standards reign supreme, we’re here to remind you that your well-being isn’t up for debate. It should be about what genuinely makes you feel like the best version of yourself.and you don't need be shamed or berrated into it, you need support, love and realistic wellness content you can see yourself in so your brain can see that selfcare can be easy.
welcome to the mello community.
we are beyond excited to have you here
xoxo,
