The Ultimate Crème Brûlée Matcha Latte Experience
step one: make the creme brulee
you may want to make this step the day before or start early.
ingredients:
2 egg yolks
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
¾ cup heavy cream
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
2 teaspoons sugar (for the brûlée topping)
instructions:
Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Place two ramekins in a baking dish.
Make the Custard: Whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale. Heat the cream in a saucepan until warm (but not boiling), then slowly whisk it into the egg mixture.
Bake in a Water Bath: Stir in vanilla and salt, then pour into ramekins. Add hot water to the baking dish (halfway up the ramekins) and bake for 30–35 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
Chill: Let cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best results).
step two: creme brulee coldfoam time
and you don't have to use it just for matcha - this coldfoam would go great on tea, chai, coffee and even root beer or creme soda.
ingredients:
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tbsp maple syrup
1-2 scoops of creme brulee
pinch of salt
instructions:
add all the ingredients to a mason jar
use a frother or a immersion blender to blend until THICK
store in the fridge covered for 4-5 days or use it immediatly
step three: whip up your matcha latte
now it's finally time to make our silly little drink
ingredients:
matcha powder
water
maple syrup (or sweetner of choice)
milk of choice (cow, goat, almond, oat...whichever)
brown sugar
torch
instructions:
whisk your matcha powder with warm water
in a cup with ice - add in maple syrup
pour in milk about 3/4 of the way up
next add your matcha
top with creme brulee coldfoam
garnish with a sprinkle of brown sugar & torch quickly until carmelized (optional, but is it? I mean you came this far...)
why you’ll love this recipe...
It’s a crème brûlée latte. Do I even need to explain?
Matcha is loaded with antioxidants, so technically, this is self-care.
You don’t need fancy equipment—just a whisk, a milk frother (or a blender), and a kitchen torch (or an oven broiler in a pinch).
We’re making an actual crème brûlée, too—because this kind of behavior is the reason you follow me.
